
The Northshore Jewish Congregation welcomes the Rabbinical leadership of Alexis Pinsky on the weekends of November 9, 2018, and the weekends of April 5 and May 24, 2019.
Rabbi Alexis Pinsky is originally from Atlanta, Georgia. She attended Tulane University where she received her B.S. cum laude with a double major in Jewish Studies and Psychology, and was ordained from the New York campus of the Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion.
During rabbinical school, she engaged in a wide range of internships focusing on pastoral care, education, community building, and pulpit work. Rabbi Pinsky completed a unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) at Bellevue Hospital in New York, taught in the religious school at Stephen Wise Free Synagogue in New York, served as student rabbi at Beth Sholom Temple in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and finished up her time in New York as the rabbinic intern at Temple Emanu-El, where she served for two years.
Since ordination, Rabbi Pinsky has been in the New Orleans area, where she was the Assistant Rabbi at Congregation Gates of Prayer in Metairie, Louisiana. Along with pulpit responsibilities there, she focused on outreach and engagement to young families and the 20’s and 30’s community. She most recently served an interim role as the Associate Rabbi and Musical and Liturgical Clergy in Residence at Touro Synagogue. She has recently relocated to New York.
Rabbi Pinsky is passionate about Jewish education, both formal and informal; music; and working toward a more just world.
