First day of Religious School, 2011
Religious School
A Hasidic proverb states, "when a child walks down the road, a company of angels goes before him/her proclaiming ‘Make way for the image of the Holy One’”.

As in Jewish tradition, our children are valued as our most important assets and the education of our children is of prime importance at NJC.

The NJC Religious School partners with the Goldring/Woldenberg Institute of Southern Jewish life (www.isjl.org) in implementing an innovative curriculum.  The program is lovingly conceived and designed specifically for Southern temples which staff the Religious School with volunteers. The text books and lesson plans are standardized by ISJL and each lesson in each teacher's guide combines text reading, discussion, crafts, skits, as well as creative activities.

Classes are held on Sunday mornings from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.
Our volunteer principal and teachers are dynamic, enthusiastic and creative.  We have assemblies, joint snack time and inter-class activities so each child can feel like they and their class are part of something larger.

We love our kids.  They are our future.

Hebrew School
Our Hebrew School focuses on preparing our youth for B'nai Mitzvah.  Instuction begins in the Third Grade and continues through the Sixth Grade. Private Tutors work with the children with their Torah and Haftarah Portions.
In addition to regularly attending classes, each child is expected to engage in a Tikkun Olam project.

Adult Education
Rabbi Nimon leads occasional Mini-Series Lectures in addition to his Introduction to Judaism classes and Hebrew reading classes.
Torah Study is also held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month.
Please check the calendar for a complete list of classes and times.
