The Northshore Jewish Congregation welcomes the Rabbinical leadership of Jack Kramer for High Holy Days 2019/5730.
Rabbi Jack Kramer is a graduate of Rutgers College where he majored in Hebraic Studies and Religion. He began his studies for the rabbinate at HUC-JIR in 1974, leading his first High Holiday services in Brookhaven, MS in 1975 and 1976. Rabbi Jack served as full time rabbinic intern 1977-78 at Temple Micah in Washington, DC. His rabbinic studies were interrupted for several years during which time he worked in the corporate world and taught. When his children finished college, he resumed his lifelong dream, returned to rabbinical school and was ordained. He served as the rabbi of Congregation Knesseth Israel (CKI) of Bound Brook, NJ from July of 2007 through June of 2018.
Rabbi Kramer has been very active in community outreach and interfaith understanding, teaching adult education courses, and working with youth. He is the recipient of awards for his interfaith work from the Somerset County (NJ) Cultural Diversity Council, and from the State of New Jersey. He organized and helped run the Bound Brook Interfaith Ministerium, working with local clergy for interfaith understanding.
He is the proud father of Adam and Miriam and daughter-in-law Molly and his grandsons Johnny and Sid.
